The Restigouche Health Authority manages the Campbellton Regional Hospital, the Restigouche Hospital Center, the St. Joseph Community Health Center, the Jacquet River Health Center, the Extra-Mural Program, the Addiction Treatment Services, Community Mental Health Services and Public Health Services. Faithful to its commitment to providing quality care, the Authority provides primary and secondary services in Restigouche County in New Brunswick and tertiary psychiatric care across the province. The Régie provides health services to a population of approximately 37,000 people, including 7,000 residents of Quebec.

The Régie handles approximately 29,000 consultations per year in the Emergency Department and approximately 129,000 visits to receive ambulatory care. In addition, there are approximately 5,300 admissions and nearly 2,600 surgical procedures annually.

The Campbellton Regional Hospital is a 166-bed regional general care facility that opened its doors in 1991 following the merger of  Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital  and Hôtel-Dieu Hospital. It offers all primary and secondary care services to residents of Health Region 5. With a staff of more than 900 people, it benefits from the services of 17 family doctors, 27 specialists, more than 200 nurses and 35 healthcare professionals. health care; and a large support staff.

The hospital offers a full range of services, including emergency care, ambulatory care, intensive care, obstetrics and gynecology, acute psychiatry, medicine, rehabilitation, geriatric medicine, general surgery, orthopedics, otolaryngology, urology, pediatrics, palliative care and veterans care. The facility offers a full range of diagnostic visualization and laboratory services, including a mobile magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system operated in partnership with Bathurst Health Authority 6 and Bathurst Health Authority 7. Miramichi.

Located in Campbellton, the Restigouche Hospital Center officially opened its doors in 1954. It has 175 beds and offers specialized services in the field of mental health in both official languages ​​throughout the province.

The hospital provides services to a forensic psychiatric clientele and treats clients who have obtained a verdict of not criminally responsible, as well as patients who require tertiary psychiatric rehabilitation services ranging from medium to long term. It also offers psychogeriatric care to the general population and to people with intellectual disabilities. The Restigouche Hospital Center has an average of 225 admissions per year and accommodates its clients in nine treatment units. The acute psychiatry unit, located at the Campbellton Regional Hospital, receives more than 400 admissions per year.

The interdisciplinary services and programs offered to patients constitute one of the most important elements of their rehabilitation. These services are organized to ensure effective treatment, rehabilitation and return to the community as soon as they are ready for this transition.

Over the years, many patients have left the hospital to return to live with their families or have been placed in nursing homes or special care homes. This effort has continued since the early 1960s, and an increasing number of patients have been able to return to live and work in their communities. The continuity of care offered to these patients is ensured through collaboration between hospital staff and community mental health centers which provide them with the support they need to remain in the community.

    The  Restigouche Satellite Dialysis Service  is located at the St. Josepoh Community Health Center and provides services to the population of Health Region 5.

    Walk-in clinic open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week

    The St. Joseph Community Health Center walk-in clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., 7 days a week to provide primary health care to the population.   Patients can register until 7:00 p.m. At the clinic, doctors as well as nurses can see patients. However, for medical emergencies, patients must go directly to the Campbellton Regional Hospital. Ambulances do not go to the walk-in clinic. If you use ambulance services, you will be transported to the nearest Emergency Department.
    Collaboration in care at the Community Health Center
    Five general practitioners have set up their offices at the Community Health Center. These doctors work closely with nurses and other health professionals. They also offer walk-in clinic services.
    Establishment of the St. Joseph Community Health Center
    A community advisory committee was established. The first task of this committee will be to:
    o Complete community needs assessment
    o Establish a list of needs in order of priority
    o Make recommendations for required services and programs based on the needs of the community.
    Additional services and programs will then be planned based on identified needs and in collaboration with the Community Advisory Committee.

    Best known to residents of the eastern part of Region 5, the Jacquet River Health Center has provided health services since its creation in 1979. It has often served as an extension of the outpatient care services of the Community Health Center St. Joseph and medical care clinic for many of the doctors practicing in the area.

    Nursing services are offered daily, Monday to Friday, as are a range of other services in the areas of mental health, public health and education for people with diabetes.
