Alexandra Dawson’s academic career began at American University, graduating with a B.A. in neuropsychology with a concentration in eating behaviors. Immediately upon graduation, Dawson relocated to New York to join Sarma Melngailis’ of the former and highly prestigious raw and vegan Pure Food and Wine and One Lucky Duck. There she assisted the executive team in recipe development and production, as well as educated customers and staff about the nutritional benefits of various menu items and ingredients. After a year in food service, Dawson re entered academia and further completed a post-baccalaureate degree from Kansas State University receiving a B.S. in nutrition and dietetics. Throughout her program at Kansas State University and since graduating, Dawson has become a strong voice and leader in the national conversation around plant based eating.
What began as a personal project during her post-baccalaureate program, Dawson’s digital outlets, her website inmybowl.com and Instagram @TallulahAlexandra, now serve as internationally celebrated resources and hubs for whole body, holistic wellness. Creating plant-based recipes inspired by seasonal and local ingredients and making nourishing meals and holistic living accessible to all, Dawson has inspired a dedicated, impassioned and devout community.
With recipes and interviews featured in numerous internationally recognized publications and brands such as Gwyneth Paltrow’s GOOP, Thrive Magazine, Yahoo Food, Free People, Lululemon and Whole Foods Market, Dawson’s impact on the real food conversation has been unprecedented. Dawson’s digital presence has propelled her into a larger role in her direct Washington, D.C. community. With numerous inspired menu options finding their way on local menu lists at Washington, D.C. based sweetgreen, Chef José Andrés ThinkFoodGroup, Washington, D.C. based CAVA and Glen’s Garden Market, she has had a direct influence on consumer market trends by organically sharing her experiences.
