These past few weeks, time has simultaneously crept and flew as we’ve waited and prepared. Eight weeks out from our anticipated due date, my ‘bump’ at what’s continually felt like it’s maximum growth capacity, stretching and ebbing to its limit from the brunt of sweet little wiggles and karate kicks, it’s all really happening.
Andrew and I want nothing more than to take this opportunity and really celebrate – the friendships and family that have continued to support, nourish, and foster our relationship, little babe, our bone deep happiness. In that spirit his mother is so graciously hosting us a ‘shower’ next weekend – an evening to do under the guise of baby. Our last (or maybe first?) hoorah before life really begins. Keeping as far away from diaper towers and birthing themed charade, I do want to sneak in one little bit of baby whimsy. We’re asking each guest to note down a sentence to live by – a few well thought out words to pass on to our little bird as he takes this life by storm.
I have a few favorites:
‘Wherever you are, and whatever you do, be in love’ – Rumi
‘The sun will rise and set regardless. What we chose to do with the light while its here is up to us. Journey wisely’ – Alexandra Elle
‘Very little grows on jagged rock. Be grounded. Be crumbled, so wild flowers will come up where you are’ – Rumi
‘There should be a place where only the things you want to happen, happen’ – Sendak
‘You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist’ – Nietzsche
‘Stop acting so small. You are the universe in ecstatic motion’ – Rumi
‘When you live in love and light, you will not go unseen; ignite the world with every flame of your being’ – Alexandra Elle
