The #GoddessVibes // Curator Series promises a carefully selected collection of mantras, unbeaten paths, workouts, companies, recipes, colors, and accessories to inspire, impassion, and expand our worlds on a daily basis. After so much international participation in April 2014’s Goddess Month Conversation, #GoddessVibes // Curator Series aspires to continue that infectious positivity, commitment to self-love, and to embrace every day and live it to its fullest.
/ Jaunt: I met Michael, the founder and designer of Jaunt, a fashion startup out of New York City that makes beautifully crafted fanny packs, at Sweetlife Festival a couple of weeks back. I was so drawn to his infectiously vibrant zoo pack, I couldn’t help but bombard him with myself. His minimalistic packs are designed to encourage and complement living in the moment, ‘because that’s when the magic happens’. Jaunt allows you to free your pockets, hands, and mind to walk slow and dance fast.
/ Gouter: I joke that V, one of the founders of Goûter, and I were meant to meet; I’m the dork that spotted her from across a coffee shop with amazing flame printed leggings and knew I had to say something (so I made Andrew approach her). French for ‘taste’, this Washington, DC based tonic and sprouted salad company provides Washingtonians with alkalizing and superfood packed (think blue-green algae and wheatgrass goodness) options to keep us healthful and glowing on a daily basis. Each tonic is aptly named with an active verb, such as Stretch, Protect, and Digest, to highlight the effects of their medicinal and invigorating spices and herbs as well as promote daily activity and movement. My personal favorite is their newest edition: Detox2- a spicy and green tonic made with kale, wheatgrass, and fresh ginger root. Goûter’s tonics can be found throughout DC in smaller markets, studios and gyms.
/ Glen’s Garden Market: This locavore-minded market, located just outside the heart of Washington, DC’s Dupont Circle, offers patrons a beautifully hand selected curation of produce, meats, poultry, dairy products and specialty foods. Developed with an environmental focus, Glen’s was designed to celebrate seasonality and offer unprecedented access to environmentally sustainable and locally grown foods. Their snacks, prepared salads, local beers, and perfectly charred sourdough crusted veggie & pesto pizzas are out of this world delicious. Nothing will disappoint. // 2001 S Street, NW, Washington, DC
/ Watermelon Mint Juice: Watermelon have finally started appearing in markets in their big, vibrant, succulent, and juicy glory- I could not be more excited! There is something so monumentally summertime about their hot pink flesh, speckled seeds, and green green rinds that screams endless warmth, screams freedom, screams ‘get in my belly!’.
/ Theodore Roosevelt Island: Next time you’re in Washington, DC and looking for that magical wild space to lose yourself in a walk, a meditation, the glory of a perceived wilderness smack dab in the middle of a city- head to Roosevelt Island. With miles of overgrown and naturally lush trails to honor the legacy of conservationist President Roosevelt, you truly can’t help but feel free.
